Cabbage & Potatoes - What to Do with them?

Got home one day from work and looked at the cabbage & potatoes not knowing what to do, so why not combine them and come up with something and I did!!!

  •   1 medium size cabbage, sliced
  •   8 Yukon Gold potatoes, sliced but not too thick
  •   1 large onion sliced
  •   2 cans drained mushrooms
  •   1/2 cup butter
  •   1 cup chicken broth
  •   1/4 cup bacon grease
  •   Seasonings:
  •   1-2 tbsp smoked paprika
  •   1 tbsp garlic powder
  •   salt & pepper to taste
  •   1 cup Parmasean Cheese
  •   Optional:
  •   Add 1-1/2 lbs. chopped beef
  •   Add crumbled bacon

Instructions

  1. In a 9 x 13 baking pan, add sliced cabbage, potatoes, onions and mushrooms
  2. Melt butter
  3. Then in small bowl; add chicken broth, bacon grease (melted) and seasonings
  4. Pour over cabbage/potatoe mixture in pan
  5. With spoon, mix all up to coat
  6. Bake at 375 covered for about 45 minutes or until potatoes and cabbage are tender
  7. Uncover and sprinkle Parmesean cheese over top
  8. Bake at 350 for additional 15 minutes
  9. If addding beef, add with cabbage & potatoes
