  • add   ½ teaspoon salt
  • add   2 teaspoons Oriental five-spice powder
  • add   4 garlic cloves, minced
  • add   ¼ cup mirin
  • add   ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • add   ¼ cup soy sauce
  • add   ¼ cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Whisk together the first 7 ingredients. Place chicken in a baking pan and pour sauce over. Bake, uncovered, until chicken is fork tender, 30 to 35 minutes, turning chicken once. Meanwhile, bring 4 cups water to a boil in a large saucepan. Break noodles in half from soup mix (do not use seasoning packet) and add to water. Boil 3 minutes, then toss with green onions. Divide among 4 serving plates. Cut chicken into ½-inch-thick slices and arrange over noodles. Drizzle any sauce from baking pan over noodles, thinning with a little water if necessary. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.Makes 4 servings.
