  •   1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  •   1/2 cup chopped pecans
  •   1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  •   1 cup chocolate syrup, divided
  •   1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix

Instructions

    1. Prepare and bake the cake according to package directions, using a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Cool on wire rack.
    2. Meanwhile, prepare pudding according to package directions; pour into a 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. dish. Tear cake into small pieces and gently push down into the pudding. Drizzle with 3/4 cup of chocolate syrup. Spread with whipped topping. Drizzle with remaining chocolate syrup. Sprinkle with pecans. Refrigerate until serving.

I love seeing new ideas being added to time tested recipes. I would never have thought of doing that, but now that you have mentioned it, this recipe sounds great! You are the Salvador Dali of recipes.

For each birthday I always make a chocolate party cake based on a Jamie Oliver recipe. It is simple, but not quick. You have to take about 3 steps to finish it with more than an hour interval. (1) Make two cakes, cool down. (2) Put stuffing in between and (3) cover with chocolate. To make it even more special (4) decorate!
