lime grilled shrimp recipe

I’m a big fan of shrimp and just recently this summer I’ve started to grill them rather than doing the usual stir-fry. Here’s one of my favorite recipes that’ll add some zing to your shrimp.

  •   2 large shallots, peeled and chopped
  •   1 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  •   4 cloves garlic, smashed
  •   3/4 cup light soy sauce
  •   1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  •   2 tablespoons sugar
  •   1/4 cup chopped green onions
  •   1/4 cup sesame oil
  •   1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  •   2 pounds large tiger shrimp, shells and head on

Instructions

  1. Marinate
  2. Place shallots, ginger, garlic, soy, lime juice, and sugar in a blender and blend until smooth. Add the green onion and oil and blend until combined. Season with black pepper, to taste. Place unpeeled shrimp in a large bowl, pour the marinade over, and let marinate at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  3. Grill
  4. Preheat your grill to high heat. Remove shrimp from marinade and grill for a couple minutes on each side. When the shrimp turns from dark blue to pink it is a good indication that it’s almost done. Just wait about 30 seconds longer after turning pink just to be safe.
