1 whole chicken portion skinless
-
1 large onion diced
-
4 large clove of garlic diced
-
1/4 cup barley
-
1 8 oz frozen or can chopped spinach
-
1 8 0z frozen or can turnip green
-
1/2 cup diced celery
-
Turmeric to taste
-
paprika to taste
-
lemon pepper to taste
-
ground red pepper to taste
-
sea salt to taste
-
1 TBS extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- In a large pot over med heat with 0ne table spoon extra virgin olive oil, slightly brown the chicken onion,garlic, celery & barley.
- then add turmeric,salt,paprika ,red ground pepper & lemon pepper.
- add hot water to cover all the chicken .
- cover the pot & cook over med heat for at least 30 min.
- add the spinach,turnip greens .add more water if needed.
- slow cook the soup for another 30 to 40 min.
- turn of the stove let sit for 15 min before serving.
- this Healthy soup can be saved in freezer for time needed .
