Poppa's Favorite Meatloaf

This is my mother-in-laws great meatloaf recipe. It also makes great meatballs if you roll the meat mixture into 1-inch balls and saute.

  • add   1/2 cup soda cracker crumbs
  • add   1/2 cup chopped green bell peppers
  • add   1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • add   1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • add   1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • add   1/4 cup chopped onions
  • add   1/2 cup catsup
  • add   1 egg
  • add   4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • add   2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • add   1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • add   1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • add   1/4 teaspoon pepper


  1. Mix meatloaf ingredients and put in loaf pan.
  2. Make topping by mixing all topping ingredients together.
  3. Bake metloaf for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
  4. Topping may be put on top of meatloaf before baking or during the last few minutes of baking time.
