  • add   1/2 cup soy sauce
  • add   2 tspns. tobasco
  • add   1/8 tspn sugar
  • add   2 minced garlic cloves
  • add   combine in small bowl
  • add   Garlic Soy Dip
  • add   sesame seeds
  • add   1/4 hoison sauce
  • add   salt to taste
  • add   1/4 cup vegtable oil
  • add   for brushing on cooked chicken
  • add   3 slices fresh ginger root
  • add   4-5 whole star anise
  • add   2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • add   1 teaspoon salt
  • add   4-5 lb. chicken thighs (rinsed and dryed)
  • add   2 scallion stalks
  • add   8-10 cups water
  • add   serves 4-6


  1. 1. Bring water to a boil in a heavy large saucepan. Slice ginger root, cut scallion stalks in 1" sections and add to pan .2. Add chicken thighs, soy, salt and star anise. Cover pan and bring to boil over medium heat for 30 minutes. Turn off heat, let stand covered (do not remove lid) for another 30 min. (test for doneness if need be bring to boil again and let stand for additional 15 min) Drain and reserve stock (its delicious)3. Using pastry brush, brush thighs with vegtable oil, then lightly salt them, then brush with hoison sauce and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.You can serve hot or cold w/ Garlic Soy Dip
