Share Old Time Beef Stew with friends

This recipe has been in the family for years. It has just the perfect blend of flavors. We love having a nice bowl of this stew on a cool winter or spring night!

  • 2 lbs. of Stew meat, cut in 1 1/2" cubes
  • 2 TBS. shortening ( or Olive oil)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 or 2 bay leaves
  • 1 TBS salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • dash of all spice if you want
  • 6 carrots pared and quarted
  • 4 to 6 potatoes pared and quarted
  • 3 TBS of all purpose flour
