This is a Mughlai recipe, a recipe used by the Moghul royals in India/Pakistan, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mughlai_cuisine
I found this recipe on the net, made some corrections/additions to it and I came up with a crowd pleaser that would make most of my friends yearn to eat it but at the same time make them feel guilty about the calories :)
A simple delicious Indian recipe made of Paalak (Spinach) and Chana Daal (Bengal Gram) which also happens to be one of the very few healthy foods I can prepare :)
I was surprised about the Chana Daal facts given in this blog http://www.mendosa.com/chanadal.html Chana Daal happens to be one of the best options (taste and very low glycemic index) for people with Diabetes!
Paalak (Spinach) is the stuff Popeye munches to gets some bulge in his biceps.
But Paalak Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese in a Spinach gravy/sauce) is one awesome North Indian dish that can give your waistline a bulge :)
I am not sure how an authentic PP is made, but this is pretty much my own version, which is based on a few blogs/suggestions I received.
Baingan Bharta, is a North Indian (or not South Indian) recipe, in which the Eggplant cooked either in an oven or roasted over a flame, skin removed, mashed and cooked again with a bunch of other ingredients.
Although conventional oven is convenient, roasting the Eggplant/Aubergine gives it a smokey flavor, and makes it taste exponentially awesomer.
